The Beligigeri Rangana Temple (BRT) Tiger Reserve in Chamrajanagara district, along with NGO, has taken steps to provide insurance coverage for both temporary and permanent staff.

In all, 315 temporary and permanent staff below the level of Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) at BRT Tiger Reserve has been covered under the Janata Personal Accident Policy (Group) by Oriental Insurance Company.

A premium of Rs 38,000 per annum has been paid from the Tiger Conservation Fund. As per the scheme, all temporary and permanent staff below the level of the ACF is eligible for insurance claims of Rs two lakh by their family (in case of death while on duty). In case of injury or permanent physical disability, they will be eligible for claims of Rs one lakh.

Vana Jagruthi, a voluntary organization working in the area, took the initiative and assisted the department in implementing the scheme
