Tejaswini defends Modi on marriage issue
Journalist-turned politician Tajaswini R Gowda today justified BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for not mentioning his wife for over four decades after marriage, saying that he did it to serve the nation.
Former Congress MP Tejaswini, who recently joined BJP, addressing a press conference here, replying to a question, said when their marriage was held, both of them were minors and that was a child marriage. So, legally it was not valid. Therefore, Mr Modi hadn't mentioned her name while filing nomination papers in previous elections.
However, she declined to answer why he mentioned her name now when the marriage was invalid.
Tejaswini said it's good thing that finally Jasodaben (Modi's wife) got her respect now as Mr Modi formally accepted her as a wife. "We have to appreciate him for that," she said.
Further she said BJP was the party that had much respect towards women and their rights. She alleged that many Congress party leaders were involved in 'sex scandals'.
Tejaswini suggested AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to get married.
