As many as 1,116 cases were settled at a mega Lok Adalat organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in the district courts here today. Ritu Tagore district and session Judge presided over the proceedings of this Adalat.


Gagan Deep mittal CJM and Secretary DLSA while giving details of the settled cases said under the MACT 14 cases were settled in which compensation amounting to Rs 26 lakh was awarded to the accident victims or their dependents. A total of 164 civil cases, 635 petty criminal cases and 8 cases under the Hindu Marriage Act were also settled on this occasion.

A total of 109 summary cases, 25 cases relating to mutation and 103 pre-litigative bank cases and 39 cheque bounce cases were also decided. RS Chaudhary, J S Sidhu, Rajan Walia , Jaiveer Singh all ADJs, Amarjeet Singh ACJM, Taranjeet Kaur CJM, Civil Judge Himanshu Singh, Devinder singh , Sonia Sheokand , additional civil judge Archna Yadav and Harleen Pal Singh civil Judges presided over respective courts in which these cases were settled.

Ritu Tagore session judge expressed her satisfaction over the results of today's mega adalat and said litigants and advocates save a lot of time by taking recourse to such platforms.
