CEC says arrangements in place for peaceful polling in Tamil Nadu
Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath today said arrangements have been put in place for peaceful polling in the April 26 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu.
Mr sampath, who arrived here from New Delhi tonight for a review meeting with state election officials tomorrow, said, during a brief chat with newspersons at the airport that adequate number of EVMs would be provided for polling in the state.
More number of EVMs would have to be provided for this general election in Tamil Nadu taking note of more number of candidates and many multi cornered contests.
It may be noted that for the first time in the annals of Parliament elections in Tamil Nadu this time there are three fronts in the fray led by the ruling AIADMK, the opposiion DMK and the BJP led NDA which has five regional parties, including DMDK, PMK and MDMK.
Polling would be peaceful in Tamil Nadu as there is no shortage of EVMsm he stressed,
Asked about alleged violation of the campaign deadline of 2200 hrs and the two leaves symbol on low cost driniking water bottles, Mr Sampath, parrying the question, said he would take such questions at the scheduled full press conference tomorrow evening.
