The opposition DMDK today announced that the party will support PMK candidate in Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency in April 24 Lok Sabha poll of the Union Territory.

In a statement here, DMDK supremo Vijayakant said his party would support PMK's candidate R K R Anantharaman in Puducherry. He also urged his cadres to follow suit. The DMDK and PMK have buried the hachet after joining the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the Lok Sabha election as key constituents of the six party Front in Tamil Nadu taking on the ruling AIADMK, opposition DMK, CPI and CPI(M) and the Congress, which is going all alone. The DMDK's decision to support PMK in Puducherry has ended the suspense about the party's stand.

Puducherry has only only one Lok Sabha seat. MDMK, another coalition partner in Tamil Nadu, will also support the PMK candidate.

In a statement issued here, PMK President G K Mani welcomed the decision of the DMDK and said it was heartening to see cadres of all six parties in the alliance have been been working together at the field level.
