ZPTC, MPTC elections held peacefully
Barring sporadic incidents, by and large, the final phase of elections for the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parisht Territorial Constituency (MPTC) were held peacefully in Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari districts.
However, some minor incidents were reported from some villages. At Turaka Palem Village in Muppala Mandal in Guntur District, P Anthaiah, the YSRCP election agent, poured water in the ballot box.
Police said the accused,on the pretext of drinking water, poured water in his mouth and spit it on the ballot box.
The police held him. Tahasildar and MPDO examined the ballot box and found that no damage was done to the ballot box and the polling continued.
At Granthasiri Village of Acchampet Mandal, Telugu Desam Party activists complained that the polling staff was showing bias towards the YSRCP. As acrimonious arguments took place on the issue, the police pacified both the groups.TDP activist Rajan Babu was held in this connection, police said.
