Union Minister Jairam Ramesh today warned the party would initiate action against rebel Congress candidates who did not withdraw from the fray.

All major political parties, including the Congress, are facing problems because of disgruntled partymen filing nominations in all the ten district of Telangana protesting against denial of party tickets.

Mr Ramesh held out the threat to the rebel Congress candidates while addressing an election rally in Karimnagar.

Telangana Pradesh congress Committee President Ponnala Lakshmiah, who was also present, hoped the rebels would withdraw from the contest.

Mr Ramesh claimed that the Congress alone could ensure the speedy development of Telangana.

Mr Lakshmiah said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi would address an election rally in karimnagar on April 16.
