The villagers of Benne Shirur of Aland Taluk in the District have decided to boycott the April 17 Lok Sabha Election due to lack of basic amenities

In a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, a copy of which was released to the press here today, the villagers said they took the decision since their village lacked basic amenities like drinking water, proper roads and public toilets.

The Benne Shirur Village came under the Bidar Lok Sabha Constituency and the villagers said they expressed their grievance many a time to the Former Chief Minister and sitting MP Dharam Singh but in vain.

They also submitted three memoranda to the Gulbarga Deputy Commissioner and gave an ultimatum but of no use.
