6 injured as bus TNSTC catches fire in TN
Six people received burn injuries when a Tamil Nadu State transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus in which they were travelling was involved in a multiple collision road accident at Valigandapuram on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai national highway near here today.
Police said, the bus was proceeding to Tiruchirapalli from Chennai when it dashed against the rear side of a lorry, which was also proceeding to Tiruchirapalli. The bus driver who lost his control and the vehicle hit the median on the road and collided with a salt laden lorry which was proceeding to Chennai from Tuticorin on the other side of the road. To the impact, the diesel tank of the lorry caught fire.
Lorry driver Moorthy and cleaner Kumar (35), bus driver Muthusamy (55) conductor Vijayakumar (37) bus passengers Ravikumar adn Saraswathi received burns. They were admitted to Government headquartrs hospital here.
On information fire and rescue department personnel rushed to the spot and cloused the fire, police added.
