Cong does not want dalit as CM in K'taka: BJP leader
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar today said the defeat of KPCC-I president G Parmaeshwar during the last election showed that Congress party did not want a Dalit to become chief minister.
Addressing BJP SC/ST campaign meet, he said Congress would see its doom not because of other parties but due to its own failure during the current election.
He called upon all SC/ST communities to defeat Congress in the coming Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 17 to teach the party a lesson.
He said though Congress-ruled Karnataka for more than four decades it did not mind to choose a Dalit leader for the post of Chief Minister and G Parameshwar became victim of this conspiracy.
Similarly when there was strong opportunity to nominate another national Dalit leader Jagajivan Ram it was foiled due to Congress conspiracy, he said.
Former Minister K B Shanappa, Dharwad Parliamentary constituency candidate, and State BJP president Prahlad Joshi and several others who spoke on this occasion expressed their confidence of party winning maximum number of seats in this election.
