Campaign for first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Jammu ends
Ongoing month long electioneering by various political parties for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat ended at 1800 hours today as the constituency would go to polls on April 10 in first phase of elections.
The battlelines have been clearly drawn for the first phase of polls in the Jammu- Poonch parliamentary seat in Jammu region where polls are to be held on April 10, sources said.
"All districts falling under the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat witnessed hectic campaigning even in villages situated in close vicinity of the Line of Control (LoC) but largely in the urban areas".
The main contest is between the joint candidate of NC-Congress and BJP but PDP has made the contest interesting, sources said.
Pertinently, there are nineteen candidates including top guns from mainstream political parties like Jugal Kishore Sharma (BJP), Madan Lal Sharma (Congress) and Yash Pal Sharma (PDP) have thrown their hats to test their lucks.
The voting for the Jammu Poonch seat would be held on April 10 from 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs while counting of votes would take place on May 16.
