Former Home minister of Maharashtra and senior Congress leader, Kripa Shankar Singh, today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spreading hatred and playing caste-based politics.

"BJP is spreading hatred and dividing people on the caste and religion lines," Mr Singh said while addressing an election meeting in favour of Bhojpuri actor and Congress candidate from Badlapur Lok Sabha seat, Ravi Kishan, here.

Congress only believes in development and works hard in this direction, he added.

The non-Congress governments in Uttar Pradesh since past 22 years has derailed the state on the path of the development, Mr Singh stated.

It was only under the Congress rule, when Jaunpur got a mill, Poorvanchal university, government polytechnic, Indira Gandhi stadium and Sathariya industrial area, Mr Singh said.

The Congress candidate, while addressing the rally, said he wanted to usher-in developlemt in this region, which is its home land.
