Suicide attempt by student leads to tension at KLU
Mild tension prevailed at KL Deemed University at Vaddeswaram in Guntur district, near here, when a girl student allegedly attempted suicide, unable to bear the torture of hostel warden.
The girl student attempted suicide by consuming nail polish and was shifted to a hospital, where her condition said to be stable.
Knowing the incident, hundreds of students boycotted the college and staged a dharna in the campus, demanding action against the hostel warden Dhanalakshi.
The students, talking to media, alleged that some of the teaching staff of the deemed university were scolding the students, using nasty and objectionable language.
The students also alleged that on April 4, a student of the university, met with a road accident near the university. The faculty members, going on the road, did not even get down from their cars and tried to shift him to hospital. Unfortunately, the student succumbed to injuries.
As the agitating students went on the rampage by damaging CCTVs, the police pacified the students by assuring that action would be initiated against the hostel warden Dhanalakshmi.
Meanwhile, a private TV channel crew alleged that the security personal of the college hurled stone on their OB van smashing windscreen when they went the university to cover the agitation of the students.
