When most of the constituencies in the state were coming up with civic issues like power cuts for the April 24 Lok Sabha polls, Central Chennai constituency is highlighting the issue of mosquito menace.

High profile DMK candidate and former Union IT and communication Minister Dayanidhi Maran, who is seeking to return to the Lok Sabha for the third consecutive time in the coming elections, is highlighting mosquito menace in his campaigning.

He has been elected from this constituency where women outnumber men voters in 2004 and 2009 General Elections. He had stepped into his illustrious father and Senior DMK leader late Murasoli Maran, whose bastion this constituency was. Murasoli Maran was DMK supreme M Karunanidhi's nephew. ''People suffer from mosquitoes in my constituency'', he said when he kicked off his campaign after filing his papers on April 4.
