CPI (M) worker injured in clash
A CPI(M) worker suffered stab injuries in a clash between CPI(M) and BJP at Kappoth near Chakkarakkal today.
According to police, Lijin (30), CPI(M) worker suffered serious stab injuries on his head in an alleged attack by four member BJP activists, following an altercation for damaging posters at Kakkoth at around 1600 hrs.
People assembled at Kakkoth in connection with Kakkoth temple festival at evening.
He has been admitted at a private hospital here. Meanwhile, in another incident, two Congress activists Libin and Manojkumar of Bavode were injured, allegedly when a group of CPI(M) workers manhandled at Bavode near Kakkoth under Chakkarakkal police limits.
Tense situation prevailed at Chakkarakkal area and large number of police personnel were camping at tense areas and situation was under control, police said.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old youth was hacked to death at Parappa near Alakkode, in an attack by his brother on late last night.
According to Alakkode police, the deceased was identified as Anoop Antony (27), a tipper lorry driver.
His younger brother Arun Antony (24) attacked with a long knife at his house at 2230 hrs yesterday night, following a family dispute.
Anoop came to the house in an inebriated stage and started an altercation with Arun. Anoop died on the spot and police conducted inquest this morning. Police took into custody Arun and the body of Anoop was shifted to Pariyaram medical college hospital for post-mortem.
