Andhra Pradesh Haj Committee Special Officer Prof S A Shukoor said that altogether, 18080 Haj applications were received from all over the state for Haj 2014.


In a media statement, Prof Shukoor said the highest number of applications are from Hyderabad with 8839 applicants.

Only five applicants submitted Haj Applications from the Srikakulam district, while 12 applicants in seven covers have submitted Haj applications form Prakasam district.

He said the Haj Committee of India had not declared the Quota and the date for the Qurrah so far.

However, the State Haj committee was prepared for the Qurrah.

Haj Committee Executive Officer Abdul Hameed said that altogether 1472 Haj applications were received from the reserved categories of 70+ years and fourth timers, who are automatically selected without Qurrah.

The Qurrah will be held for the rest of the 16608 applicants.

Under the reserved categories the highest number of 901 applications were received from Hyderabad followed by 91 from Nellore district, he added.
