Congress stoped growing after having alliance with Dravidian parties'
Senior Congress Leader and formr Union Minister K V Thangabalu said today that Congress in Tamil Nadu did not grow further, because the party was having alliance with dravidian parties like AIADMK and DMK, one after another.
Former President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee told newspersons here that after the Lok Sabha elections, a secular government under the leadership of Congress Vice-President Ragul Gandhi will establish at the Centre.
He claimed that Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre had enacted several acts and implemented several schemes to ensure the basic rights for people like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Right to Information Act, Food Security Act to ensure food to 70 crore people.
He charged that whenever there was change in the Government in Tamil Nadu,the new government used to sobatage the schemes brought by the previous government.
The Union govrnment has now enacted several acts to ensure that no state government sidelines any of the
Centrally-sponsored schemes, he added.
He also cliamed that about 15 crore new voters would not vote in favour of BJP's PM nominee Nardendra Modi, instead they will vote for Mr Rahul Gandhi.
He said the Tamil Nadu Congress facing the Lok Sabha elections on its own, has givena fresh thrust to the Congressmen of the state, besides the party activities in the stae were in speed towards strengthening the party base further.
To a question, he said though the Union Governemnt is very keen to implement the Sethu Samuthiram Canal project due to the non-cooperation of the state government the schme is not implemented.
The Union Governemnt is making its efforts continuously to ensure the rights of Tamils In the island nation and has earmarked a sum of Rs 8000 crore to provide rehabilitation measures to the affected Tamils in Sri Lanka, which is underway, he added.
Earlier addressing a electioneering meeting in support Congress nominee for the Chidambaram (reserve) Lok sabha constituency Dr Vallalperuman, Mr Thangabalu said Congress could alone give good governance as well to protect the country.
He listed out various achievements of the UPA government and said the government has given Rs 19,000 crore as educational loan and farm debts to the tune of Rs 21,000 crore have written off for the benifit of ryots.
The state will go for single phase polling on April 24.
