Youth will not forgive those who looted country, says Modi
Alleging that those in power have been corrupt, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday said the people are not going to forgive those who have looted the country for all these years.
"Now the whole country has awakened. Now people, especially the youth, will not forgive those who have looted the nation," said Modi while addressing a rally here today.
"The reason for our devastation and poverty is not because there are shortcomings in our hardwork or it is because of the natural reasons. If there are shortcomings, then it is in the mindset of the people who are sitting in power. There is a lack in intention and in the promises of these people," he added.
He said there was a mood in the country that their dreams will be fulfilled but ever since Sonia Gandhi came to power everything was destroyed.
In an apparent dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Modi said , "It's been ten years and today even some congressmen have refused to acknowledge the Prime Minister as their leader. If you ask Congressmen who their leader is, then no one will take Manmohan Singh's name."
"If no one in the Congress is willing to listen to him (PM), then how will someone listen to him in the government?" he asked.
He further asserted that the Congress party is only busy in worshipping only one family (Gandhi family) and that it is reason why it has admonished the idea of patriotism.
Comparing the SP, the BSP and the Congress with the WWF wrestlers, Modi said that these parties act like wrestlers in Lucknow but secretly strike deals behind closed doors in Delhi.
