TDP activists resent allocating Central constituency to BJP
The seat-sharing between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BJP caused flutters in the TDP cadre here, as a large number of followers of Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao, staged a dharna at TDP office, demanding that Vijayawada (Central) assembly constituency should not be allocated to the BJP.
The TDP activists staged dharna at TDP Central constituency office led by K Pattabhiram.
Talking to media, he said Bonda Uma had been striving hard for the past five years in strengthening the party cadre in the Vijayawada (Central) Assembly constituency.
Mr Uma had earned goodwill among people in the constituency by holding several agitations against the anti-people policies of government.
Leaving the Vijayawada (central) Assembly constituency to the BJP would demoralise the party activists and it would have influence in neighboring constituencies, Mr Pattabhiram warned and demanded that the TDP retain the assembly constituency and give the ticket to Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao.
TDP General Secretary and Vijayawada Central constituency in-charge Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao has made all preparations to contest from the Assembly segment. The TDP leadership is learnt to have agreed to allocate the seat to the BJP.
