Pawnbroker murder case: Police picks up clues
Police today were engaged in picking up clues on the gruesome daylight murder of a pawnbroker, which sent shock waves among the public.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Omvir Singh Bishnoi said police have formed eight special teams to nab the criminals involved in the murder of Radhe Shyam Dhoot (50).
Dhoot (50) was found inside his shop at M M Salai in a pool of blood yesterday with his throat cut open with a sharp weapon.
As per police records, gold and silver ornaments were stolen from the shop.
The murder happened at a time, when the police were making all out efforts to ensure security for the public to exercise their franchise in a free and fair manner.
Meanwhile, the pawnbrokers' association has decided to keep their shops closed till the police arrests the culprits involved in the brutal murder.
Puducherry Traders Federation (PTF) Secretary Baalou said only the shops of pawnbrokers will not be open to protest against the gruesome act and added that it will take the agitation further if the police fails to arrest the culprits in another two days.
The victim's body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Union Minister V Narayanasamy, former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, All India NR Congress candidate for the LS polls, R Radhakrishnan visited Dhoot's house and consoled the family members.
