Despite prediction for more rains next week also, the authorities have decided to allow two-way traffic for all vehicles on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway from April 10.

Only one-way traffic was plying on the highway since December last year to avoid any traffic jam and accidents following heavy snowfall and frequent landslides, triggered by rains.

However, with some improvement the authorities allowed two-way traffic for light passenger vehicles on the highway, the only road linking the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country from April Ist. Heavy vehicles are still plying one-way on the highway. Today heavy vehicles are plying from Srinagar to Jammu while light passenger vehicles were allowed from both sides.
