People watching BJP, Modi for better India: Ravi Shankar Prasad
Senior BJP leader Ravi Sankar Prasad today said the people in the country were keenly watching the BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for a better India.
"India deserves better, Indians deserve better and Indians are surely looking for the BJP and Narendra Modi,' he said, while participating at a meet the press programmes of the Press Club here.
Expressing the confidence that the BJP Government would come with the magic number to form the government at the Centre, he said its popularity was increasing day by day and people had widely accepted leadership of Mr Modi.
Asked why was Mr Modi contesting from Varanasi, he said it was part of the strategy of the party as his candidature would enthuse workers in UP and neighbouring Bihar.
It was clear that Mr Modi would outrightly win from any seat in Gujarat and contesting from Varanasi was not because of fear, but to spread the root of the BJP into these areas as well.
Alleging that the UPA Government under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the most corrupted government the country had seen, he said the elections were being held on core issues of unemployment, price hike, threat to internal and national security and rampant corruption.
Even the media, court and others pointed out the corruption, the UPA Government did not allow any investigation into the scam, he said, adding 'be it Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi nobody was serious about probe into the scams.'
Regarding the threat to the national security, he said "in spite of over 500 incursions by China into our borders the government has failed to show any management of internal security."
Regarding Mr Antony, he said "even though Mr Antony, who has served as the Defence Minister for a long time in the history of India, he failed to utilize the infrastructure in our country to manufacture arms and about 80 per cent of them were being imported from foreign countries."
