BJP slams Jnanpith winners turning 'trumpets' of Congress
The BJP in Karnataka today regretted that well known writers, some of whom were Jnanpith award winners, have forgotten their social responsibilities and turned 'mouth piece' of the Congress party without any justification.
Noted litterateurs U R Ananthamurthy, Girish Karnad, along with a few other senior Kannada writers had yesterday called for the defeat of the BJP and not let its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi win the Lok Sabha election as he could unleash 'dictatorship' in the country.
They also called upon the people to vote for Congress candidates in the three city segments in the coming election.
Speaking to reporters, BJP state unit spokesperson and former minister S Suresh Kumar alleged the writers are being imprudent and have forgotten their social duty of leading the people in good path.
Mr Kumar questioned how could the writers comment on the ideals of BJP leaders and made false allegations over the achievements of five time MP H N Ananth Kumar in Bangalore city.
'The people know well how much they have contributed to the city and what they have gained from the city,' he added.
