Factionalism surfaced, BJP office in Rajkot locked by workers
In another case of resentment and factionalism within the BJP ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections, party's city unit office at Karanpara area was locked by a section of its workers who were dissatisfied over appointment of two leaders to oversee poll preparation at the Rajkot seat.
BJP sources today said the party activists were angry and dissatisfied with the orders of the high command to appoint the two members to oversee the election preparations and campaign of party candidate Mohanbhai Kundaria from Rajkot Lok Sabha seat.
The BJP workers resentment led to an outburst when they were busy in a meeting at their office here under the two observers -- Minister of State Govindbhai Patel and Rameshbhai Rupapara -- who have already been assigned to look after the election preparation.
The party activists received a message late last evening that Dr Vallabhbhai Kathiriya and Shivlal Vakariya (former BJP MPs of Rajkot constituency) will help the observers in the elections preparation.
BJP sources said this led to dissatisfaction among the workers who closed the office even as the meeting was underway. The office looked deserted even today.
'Since its inception in 1995 it was never happened that the office was closed like this,' said one of the workers in a painful voice.
When contacted some of the BJP workers said the party high command has ignored local dedicated workers and even the two observers who were doing good work, and asked them to join hands with the two newly appointed members.
The state leadership was trying to resolve the issue.
