A here court will April 16 record the statements of the accused in the 2G spectrum case against the Essar Group and Loop Telecom promoters, who face charges of criminal conspiracy for cheating the DoT.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini on Friday fixed the matter for April 16 to supply the questionnaire to the accused in the case.

The questions are part of recording the statements of the accused.

A third set of charges filed by the CBI in the 2G case alleged that promoters of the Essar Group were the real investors and beneficiaries of the spectrum and licenses issued to the Loop Telecom, which was used as a front company by the Essar to acquire 2G licenses and spectrum in 2008.

This has been denied by the accused.

On March 25, the court supplied over 1,700 questions running into 824 pages to the accused, including former union communications minister A. Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi in a separate case related to the 2G scam.
