Sardar Singh to lead India in European Tour
Midfielder Sardar Singh will lead a 21-member senior men hockey team in the Europe Tour to play five build-up games in The Hague, Netherlands from April 9-19.
Defender Rupinder Pal Singh will be his deputy, the Hockey India (HI) said in a statement here today.
This tour is in preparations for the FIH Men's World Cup 2014, scheduled to be held at The Hague, Netherlands from May 31-June 15.
HI selectors B P Govinda, Syed Ali and R P Singh alongwith Roelant Oltmans, Director High Performance and Terry Walsh, Chief Coach Men Team selected the list of 21 players on the basis of selection trials conducted at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here from March 20-21.
The squad will depart for The Netherlands on April 9 to play five build-up games including two against The Netherlands, one against Belgium and two games against Dutch National Club teams.
The camp of senior men team is currently underway at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium which started from March 9 and will continue till their departure on April 9.
