The Mysore district authorities, with the help of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, have launched a drive to create awareness among Adivasi voters in Hunsur and H D Kote Taluks of the district who have threatened to boycott polls on April 17.

The drive will be taken up at Nagapura, Veeranahosahalli, Dharmapuri and other tribal settlements ('hadis') in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve Border areas will be covered under SVEEP.

As the first step, street plays on compulsory voting were
staged in some 'hadis' since last two days.

They will be staged in 34 'hadis' in the next eight days. Before proceeding to the 'hadis', the street play was staged in the Ashodaya Samiti Auditorium.

For the first time, the district authorities have taken up
aggressive awareness programme following the instructions from the Election Commission of India to take efforts to increase the voting percentage particularly in the remote places.
