Jammu and Kashmir police has filed a charge sheet in a local court against former health minister Shabir Ahmad Khan in connection with alleged sexaual assault on a lady doctor in February.

Khan, a senior Congress leader, resigned from the Cabinet after a case was registered against him in police station Shaheed Gunj on February 6 on a complaint filed by a lady doctor, who alleged that the minister called her to office in civil secretariat and tried to outrage her modesty.

The charge-sheet was filed before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar V S Bhau who has issued notice to Khan, seeking his presence on next date of hearing on May 5.

Khan allegedly had insisted the doctor to meet him at his guest house and share her mobile number and take up 'any of her problems' directly with him with an intention to receive sexual favours.

The CJM had issued non bailable warrant against Khan after he failed to appear before the Investigation Officer (IO). However, the High Court granted him interim bail and directed the IO to release him (Khan) if he is arrested.

Later, after Khan appeared before the IO, the High Court confirmed the interm bail to him.
