2 killed in collision between two passenger trains in Uttar Pradesh
At least 2 passengers were killed and five others injured in a rear end collision between two passenger trains near Obra station in Sonebhadra district late last night.
GRP sources here today said that 15676 Chaupan-Katni passenger train, on its way to Katni in Madhya Pradesh, was standing at the outer of Obra station when 13345 Varanasi-Shaktinagar Inter-city Express, came on the same track and hit the Katni bound train at the rear even after the inter-city express driver applied emergency brakes.
The collision took place at around 2340 hrs killing two passengers travelling on the last coach were killed.
The victim have been identified as Pramod Kumar Singh and Sanjay Singh, both residents of Robertsganj in Sonebhadra district.
Senior railway officials have rushed to the spot and a probe has been order as how both the trains came on the same track. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
Efforts were on resume train services on the rail route and remove the trains and repair the tracks.
