BJP in Karnataka today alleged that its leaders from Bellary district including Lok Sabha candidate B Sriramulu and four of his associates were being 'hounded' by the election officials, while there was no such strict vigil on any other political party leader in the state.

Speaking to reporters, BJP spokesperson S Suresh Kumar alleged that five leaders from the BJP -- Mr Sriramulu, MP Sanna Fakirappa, Gurulinganagouda, Gonal Rajashekara Gouda and Y Thimma Reddy were being continuously monitored using video cameras by the election officials.

Mr Sriramulu, who had quit BJP two years ago, returned home before the Lok Sabha election. He is the close associate of jailed mining baron G Janardhana Reddy.

"What we object to is, that why there are two separate parameters for the Congress and the BJP in this state and by these officials. I demand the EC that all facilities given to the Congress leaders be given to BJP leaders also in the state," he demanded.

Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka is scheduled on April 17.
