Attachment proceedings were initiated against an insurance firm after it failed to pay a part of the compensation awarded by the local court to an accident victim.

However, the officials of firm, United India Insurance Company Ltd, assured the court officials that they would pay the rest of amount by Wednesday.

The victim, Ramachandran, a resident of Keezhoor, was injured in accident on November 22,2003 while he was traveling from Chennai to Tiruchipalli.

The victim had filed a claim petition with the Additional Sub Judge of local court here.

The court awarded an amount of Rs 5,12,120 to Ramachandran. The insurance firm, however,failed to pay the full amount and balance of Rs 51,154 was yet to be paid to the claimant.

Ramachandran filed an Execution Petition in 2011 and Additional Sub Judge S Pakkirisamy ordered the attachment of the property of the insurance firm.

The court officials and counsels for petitioner went to the Insurance firm's office.

Following the assurance by the insurance officials that they would pay the rest of the amount by Wednesday, the court officials returned.
