Andhra Pradesh chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal today said there was one complaint received on Centre for violation of the model code of conduct by announcing setting up of a committee for selecting of a new capital for the residual state.

"We have referred the matter to Election Commission (ECI) to seek clarification from the Centre", he told reporters here.

The complaint was made by Jai Samaikyandhra Party (JSP), floated by former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who has questioned the Centre for 'violating' the model code of conduct of elections by announcing setting up of a search committee for new residuary Andhra Pradesh capital.

It may be recalled that the Union Home Ministry has set up a committee headed by retired IAS office Shivarama krishnan to scout for a new capital in Seemandhra and also given guidelines on the criteria and priorities.
