Call him a man with 'lack of spunk', Jnanpeeth award winning dramatist Girish Karnad today called for the defeat of BJP General Secretary H N Ananth Kumar.

Taking out an early morning campaign in favour of Congress candidate Nandan Nilekani, Mr Karnad said time had come to replace Mr Kumar as he had wasted 24 longs years as the Memberof Parliament from Bangalore South.

Incidentally, Mr Kumar is seeking a record six term after
winning successive five times in Lok Sabha elections in this segment which include a majority of office going public.

Speaking after meeting large number of morning walkers from
all walks of life and age profile, the noted theatre personality
later told reporters that the people of the segment needed a change and Nilekani was the most suitable candidate.

'May be Mr Kumar is a good man, but he did little work. His
party also obviously did not want him to do something worthwhile
for the people and this was nothing but sheer indifference,' Mr
Karnad, sporting a Congress cap, added.

The writer of award winning 'Tughlaq' play, he has been actively campaigning for Mr Nilekani for the past three days and has promised that he would continue to meet people to seek
votes for the Infosys co-founder.

The noted writer had already made known his dislike towards
the BJP on earlier occasions.

This morning, along with Mr Karnad, several prominent people
campaigned in Lalbagh for Nandan Nilekani. The other campaigners
included famous Kannada writer K Marulasiddappa, prominent movie
actor-politician Mukhya Mantri Chandru, M C Venugopal, President
of the OBC wing of Congress, and G K Govind Rao, actor and writer
and others.

Mr Chandru said Mr Nilekani had proved himself worthy leader in the IT sector providing jobs to thousands of youth while being a billionaire, his philanthropic work had been well received by
the people. People need to help him a Parliamentarian.
