The Election Commission has appointed six observers for the lone Lok Sabha seat of Nagaland scheduled for April 9next, which includes two general observers, two expenditure observers, one police observer and one from Convener of Liquor.


State Chief Electoral Office sources said two General Observer Dr Manjit Singh would be looking after Kohima zone that includes Kohima, Dimapur, Pughoboto, Peren, Zunheboto, Wokha and Phek, while the second one Ab Latif Deva would be looking after Mokokchung zone that includes Mokokchung, Mon, Kiphire, Longleng and Tuensang.

Both the general observers have already arrived in the state.

Two expenditure observers including Sushil Kumar Singh. Singh would be looking after Kohima zone that includes Kohima, Dimapur, Pughoboto, Peren, Zunheboto, Wokha and Phek.

The second observer Rama Krishna Varikuti would be looking after Mokokchung zone that includes Mokokchung, Mon, Kiphire, Longleng and Tuensang.

Sudhir, Inspector General of Bangalore would be the police observer. While Santosh Kumar Misra, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, has been appointed as Convener of Liquor.

Sources said a total of 3127 electronic voting machines (EVM) are being distributed to the AROs of 12 election district the state.

Spare EVMs will be available in all the district after it was well examined by the experts from Hyderabad.

The Magistrate on duty of the polling stations will also carry extra EVMs for urgent necessary of any polling stations.
