Paid holiday has been declared in Assam in the respective constituencies for the polling dates for the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The state goes to the polls in three phases on April 7, 12 and 24 respectively.

As per official sources, paid holiday has been declared in all factories, plantations (including tea plantations), shops and commercial establishments, establishment for public entertainment or amusement, contractors establishments, firms and such other industries/workshops, commercial and business establishments and banking institutions, etc. to enable the workers to cast their votes.

Five constituencies in eastern and northern parts of the state will go to the polls in the first phase, followed by three constituencies in southern parts in second phase and remaining six in central and western parts in third phase.
