Kozhikode Corpn to host national exhibition
The 41th edition of All India Health-Education-Agriculture and Industrial Exhibition 2013-14 by the Kozhikode Corporation will begin here on April 3.
Talking to reporters here, Mayor and Exhibition Committee Chairperson Prof A K Premajam and Secretary Muzzafir Ahamed said 'live' Tajmahal would be special attraction at the exhibition to be held at Swapnanagari near here.
Central and State government organisations, including Indian Railways, the Reserve Bank of India, National Institute of Technology, Calicut, Planetarium, Indian Space Research Centre, Kozhikode Medical College, Kerala State Electricity Board, Water Authority would set up stalls at the 45-day exhibition showcasing their finest brands, they said.
The main motive of the event was to showcase revolutionary changes and advancements in healthcare, education, agriculture, industrial, science, information technology and communications, transportation and commercial developments in the region, they said.
Started in 1949 by a resolution conceptualised by former High Court Judge Govinda Menon while serving Kozhikode Corporation as Councillor, it has turned out to be the largest government organised trade exhibition and most important hallmark event of Malabar region, they said.
Stating that the organisers expected a revenue of Rs 11 lakh out of ticket sale, they said the same would be utilised for charity work.
Different art and cultural events were also being organised as part of the event, they said eminent writer U A Khader would inaugurate it at a function where cine actor Sudheesh will be the chief guest.
