RSP would have been given seat: Panniyan
CPI State Secretary Panniyan Raveendran today said the LDF would have considered the option of withdrawing CPM Politburo member M A Baby from contesting for Kollam Parliament constituency to admit the demand raised by the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).
He was speaking at Nilapad-2014, an election related interface programme being organised by Kottayam Press Club here.
According to him, RSP would have certainly been given a seat if they could wait at least for 24 hours while the controversy had erupted in the coalition.
"When they raised their resentments, CPI had assured, their demand for a seat would be considered favourably and asked them to wait for 24 hours.
"We made the assurance after consulting with LDF convener and CPM leadership." "We do not have any hesitation to withdraw Mr Baby from contesting for the seat and we would never retract once the decision has been taken," he said.
