WT20: Ashwin, Yuvraj help India beat Australia

Mirpur, Mar 30 : R Ashwin's brilliant bowling and Yuvraj Singh's fighting 60, helped India beat Australia by 73 runs in a World T20 match here on Sunday.

Posting 159 for seven on the scoreboard, Indian bowlers bowled out Australia for 86 in 16.2 overs.

R Ashwin picked up four wickets by giving away 11 runs to destroy the Australian line-up.

Glenn Maxwell (23), Brad Hodge (13) and David Warner (19) were the only batsmen to reach the double-figure mark for Australia.

Amit Mishra also shined in the match and took two wickets while

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma and

Ravindra Jadeja picked a wicket each for India.

India has won all the four matches in the tournament so far. Dhoni's men have already qualified for the semi-finals.

The 'Men in Blue' topped the group 2 with the victory.

Ashwin said: "I think we were stretched quite a bit while batting but we are playing well the way we are.Yuvraj and Dhoni batted well."

India scored 159 for seven in 20 overs against Australia in a World T20 match here on Sunday.

Australia earlier out India to bat first after winning the toss.

Australia made a good start against India by taking three Indian wickets quickly.

Rohit Sharma (5), Ajinkya Rahane (19) and Virat Kohli (23) and Suresh Raina (6) departed fast as India were struggling at 66 for four in 11.3 overs.

Yuvraj Singh (60) and MS Dhoni (24) rebuild the innings after initial jolts as the duo put up 84 runs in the fifth wicket partnership and tried to put the Australian bowlers under pressure by hitting some huge sixes.

Singh smashed five boundaries and four sixes in his 43-ball knock while Dhoni hammered one six and boundary in his innings.

Australia pulled things back in the last two overs of the innings as Mitchell Starc and Shane Watson bowled brilliantly to put Indian scorecard under 160-run mark.

Starc bowled out Dhoni in the third ball of the 18th over he bowled while Watson got rid off both Singh and Ravindra Jadeja in the 19th over. Jadeja was run out after contributing just three runs with his willow.

Australia have lost both their group stage matches so far.

Dhoni appreciated Yuvraj Singh for his knock and said: "He needed an innings like this...We all know what kind of a player Yuvi is. I think this format ideally suits him."
