Cricketing world plays safe over SC's interim proposals on Srini and BCCI
Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid on Thursday said that in each and every field and life there is both good and bad, and said the game will continue and won't be affected at all. But, he refused to comment on Srinivasan.
"Well, I would not want to make any comment, since the matter is sub-judice, I do not want to say anything on the court judgement. You are asking me stuff which I do not know," Dravid said.
"See, in every field, and in life, there are some episodes which should not happen, same goes in this game as well. It doesn't mean that the entire team is bad, the game will continue," Dravid added.
Former chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth also played it safe, stating that since the matter is sub-judice, and since the matter is being looked into by the Supreme Court, he was not in a position to comment.
"I really do not know what has happened. It is not proper for anyone of us to comment unless we know the correct information. The matter is sub-judice as Rahul Dravid said rightly, and I think, we will have to wait for the complete thing to happen, and then, we will comment," Srikkanth said.
"I don't know or think that at this point of time, anyone of us will be able to answer, as the matter is sub-judice. Ultimately, the Supreme Court is supreme and everybody will follow it," Srikkanth added.
Another former India captain Anil Kumble was of the view that Supreme Court will be taking a decision which all must abide by, and added that there was no immunity in the game of cricket.
"This is nothing different to what we see in this society. So, there is no difference. Just because it is a sport, you can't have immunity. I think beyond this I cannot say anything on any individual. I don't know what the proposal is. Since, the matter is sub-judice, first, we should wait for the court to give its decision," Kumble said.
The Supreme Court on Thursday, heard a petition related to the controversial role of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, N.Srinivasan, in the 2013 Indian Premier League spot-fixing and betting scam on Thursday gave three interim proposals the first being that incumbent Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief N. Srinivasan to step aside and secondly, proposed former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar to act as the interim-president of the BCCI till the time the case against Srinivasan continues. The third major interim proposal given by the apex court was that, two Indian Premier League (IPL) teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals should not participate in the upcoming IPL that is scheduled to start from April 16 of this year.
