Expelled Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader MK Alagiri on Wednesday said he will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"I won't fight the elections this time. Just wait and watch if DMK manages to win even one or two seats. If it does, it will be a big thing for the party," Alagiri told reporters.

He lashed out at his younger brother MK Stalin and said: "I don't care whether Stalin becomes the DMK president or not. All I want is there should be strict action taken against those who instigated to expel me."

DMK supremo M Karunanidhi on Tuesday expelled his elder son Alagiri from the party.

"Even after being suspended from the party, Alagiri continues to criticize the DMK. So, DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan and I have decided to expel him from the party permanently," said Karunanidhi.

On Mar 19, the DMK issued a statement to its party workers, warning them from keeping in touch with Alagiri.

Alagiri on Mar 11 said he will form his own party after the Lok Sabha elections.

"I will take a decision on it after two months ... once the Lok Sabha elections are over. I have to consult my supporters and analyse the present political scenario," Alagiri told reporters.

Karunanidhi on Mar 10 refused a ticket to Alagiri for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Asked the reason for refusing a ticket to Alagiri, Karunanidhi told reporters on Mar 10, "Don't hurt me by asking about him. I won't allow him to contest polls for the DMK."

In January, Karunanidhi said he suspended Alagiri from all party posts because he used harsh words against the former Tamil Nadu chief minister's younger son Stalin.

Karunanidhi's two sons - Alagiri and Stalin - have been against each other for long time and their relationships touched new low after Karunanidhi decided to appoint his younger son Stalin as his political heir.
