Sri Lanka registered a thumping nine-wicket victory over Netherlands in the ICC World T20 group stage match here on Monday.

Bowling out Netherlands for 39 in 10.3 overs, Sri Lanka reached 40 runs by losing only one wickets with 90 balls to spare.

Chasing a low target Sri Lanka lost the wicket of Kusal Perera (14) with 20 runs on the scoreboard.

Tillakaratne Dilshan (12*) and Mahela Jayawardene (11*) ensured Sri Lanka reach the target without losing any further wicket.

Ahsan Malik picked up the only wicket for Netherlands.

Earlier Sri Lankan bowlers destroyed the Netherlands batting line-up as the opponents could not even reach 40-run mark.

Losing four wickets within 10 runs, Netherlands batsmen never looked comfortable at the crease.

Tom Cooper was the only one to reach the double figure mark of 16 runs.

Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis picked up three wickets each while Lasith Malinga took two and Nuwan Kulasekara scalped one for Sri Lanka.

The Asian side has won two matches in the tournament so far.
