Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday urged workers not to use 'Har Har Modi' slogan.

"Some enthusiastic supporters are using slogan 'Har Har Modi...' I respect their enthusiasm but request not to use this slogan in the future," Modi tweeted.

The BJP also distanced itself from the slogan used by some party workers and said the party's slogan for the Lok Sabha polls was 'AbKiBaarModiSarkaar'.

"'Har Har Modi' is not a BJP nara/slogan. BJP slogan is #AbKiBaarModiSarkaar - Please kindly note ," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted.

She also said in a statement: "It has come to our notice that in a few television channels there are discussions on 'HarHarModi' as if it is a BJP nara/slogan. This is incorrect. The BJP slogan is 'AbkiBaarModiSarkaar'."

Earlier, some Hindu religious leaders reportedly objected the slogan

Pertinently, Hindus use the 'Har Har Mahadev' chant to hail Hindu deity Lord Shiva.
