2G: Karunanidhi's wife issued summons
The Enforcement Directorate (EC) on Thursday said it has issued fresh summons against Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) supremo M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation case.
In October last year, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) recorded her statement in the case at her residence here. She is a prosecution witness in the matter.
Ammal said she could not recall anything in the matter, media reports said.
"The matriarch, speaking in Tamil, said she did not recall anything," NDTV reported quoting sources.
"Dayalu Ammal also claimed she knew nothing about Kalaignar TV, the DMK's mouthpiece of which she is part owner along with her step-daughter Kanimozhi," the news channel reported quoting sources.
Rajya Sabha MP and her daughter Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar were present at the residence during the proceedings.
In one of the biggest scams of Independent India, allegedly masterminded by former telecom minister A Raja, 2G spectrum was given away at throwaway prices in 2008 causing a potential revenue loss of up to Rs 1.76 lakh crore.
