Congress to announce candidates for 3 states
The ruling Congress will on Friday announce its list of Lok Sabha candidates for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and Tamil Nadu.
"Reports suggest that Finance Minister P Chidambaram is not keen to contest in the Lok Sabha polls and is keen on taking the Rajya Sabha route," said CNN-IBN.
The Congress on Thursday announced its second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls with former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal being named among others.
The Congress has named 71 candidates in its latest list.
Bansal will be contesting from Chandigarh.
Bansal resigned from his ministerial position in May last year after he was sucked in a promotion for money scam in the ministry in which his own nephew was caught accepting bribe by the CBI red-handed.
Bansal's nephew Vijay Singla was arrested for accepting a Rs 90 lakh bribe in exchange for a top job on the Railways Board to Mahesh Kumar.
Apart from Bansal, former Union Minister Subodh Kant Sahai will be fighting the polls from Ranchi.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, V Narayanasamy will be contesting from Puducherry.
Among other prominent names in the list, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M. Veerappa Moily will be fighting from Chikballapur, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor will contest the polls from Thiruvananthapuram.
Bollywood actor turned Congress leader Raj Babbar will fight from Ghaziabad seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Actress Nagma is all set to contest for the party from Meerut seat.
"35pc Youth in #Congress Lists of candidates.The second list consists of 9 Youth Congress office bearers and 11 women candidates," the Congress tweeted.
Congress had unveiled its first list on Mar 8.
The party had named 194 candidates in the list.
