A new study has revealed that musical aptitude in an individual is affected by a combination of genes.

According to the study, the function of the candidate genes ranges from inner-ear development to auditory neurocognitive processes and are involved in the auditory pathway.

The study showed that the perception of music starts with specialized hair cells in the inner ear, which transmit sounds as electronic signals through the auditory pathway to the auditory cortex.

The researchers also revealed that the processing of music has been shown to affect multiple other regions of the brain that play a role in emotion, learning and memory.

It was also found that musical aptitude is a complex behavioral trait and environmental factors, such as culture and music education, play an important role in it.

The study was published in Molecular Psychiatry.
