'300: Rise of an Empire' masters weekend with USD 45 mn

Los Angeles, March 11 : Hollywood film "300: Rise of an Empire" earned an estimated USD 45 million from its release in around 3,470 theatres in its opening weekend.
Despite lackluster reviews, the Warner Bros. and Legendary's hyper-stylized 3D sequel pulled in audiences to watch actress Eva Green Atremisia and the rest of the scantily clad warriors, in the USD 108 million movie.
The lure of IMAX helped, reports Entertainment Weekly.
As many as 342 IMAX screens brought in USD 6.8 million (or 15 percent) of the film's weekend earnings, while 3-D showings accounted for 63 percent of the grosses.
"300: Rise of an Empire" is performing quite well internationally also, making USD 87.8 million from 58 markets.
