Nitish Kumar's dream of becoming PM does not let him sleep: Modi
Taking a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for harboring prime ministerial ambitions, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Monday said the dream of becoming PM never lets Kumar sleep well.
"Today, I know why he (Nitish Kumar) broke the alliance. It was the dream of becoming the PM of the country that never lets him sleep. He has such a high opinion of himself; he feels he is more qualified," Modi said while addressing a rally here.
"Why was our alliance with the Bihar Government broken? I used to think what the reasons were which forced them to break this alliance. Some people say it was their ego, and others say that it is their habit of backstabbing. Jaiprakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia must be in pain," he added.
He also said that all parties which constitute the Third Front have always bailed out the Congress.
"Secondly, it either has former prime ministers or, those who dream of becoming the prime minister. Where was this Third Front when there was flood in Kosi? Did they help you?
I want to ask them where they were during the Bhuj earthquake, or the Hindu-Muslim riots in Assam. They only wake up with the bugle of election, and then, fall asleep," he added.
He asserted that whenever he visits Bihar, he always feel like saluting its people.
"When history will be written, the incident of October 27 in Patna will be mentioned. But, I am not here to speak about those blasts. I want to salute the bravery of the people of Bihar, as they were unruffled by the blasts. The people of Bihar are brave and courageous," he added.
