Defence Expert Bharat Verma on Sunday said that naval accidents that were happening due to defects in equipment manufacturing and that Defence Minister A.K Antony was just passing his time and doing nothing about the issue.

"The accidents that are happening are due to defects in equipment manufacturing. The sub standards equipments, which are supplied and made, are also corrupted, and they have not tried to improve it," said Verma.

"The result is that we are losing good officers. Anger is coming in naval officers as they feel that we are saving our country and our country is doing this to us. A.K Antony is just passing his time," he said.

"Even in air force, navy and army officers want to know how they will be able to defend this country with such equipments. Soldiers are held accountable if they lose small land, but is the defence minister not accountable for anything? Over 49 % FDI should be increased and factories should be established here so that we can get good standard products and equipments," he added.

A civilian worker was killed and two were injured in an accident at the under-construction nuclear submarine at the shipbuilding centre of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam on Saturday evening.
