Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that he is a better candidate in the PM's race than many in fray with his vast experience of running both Parliament and state government.

"All those who have been announced as PM candidates won't become the PM. One who hasn't been announced as PM candidate will also not become PM. I'm not claiming to be a PM candidate but am I less capable than any of the nominees," Kumar told media.

"Some of the PM candidates either don't have the experience of Parliament or some don't have the experience of running a state. I have both," the Bihar CM said.

Reacting to Kumar's claim, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav told media: "Nitish Kumar is not a factor in these elections. He is praising himself. Everyone wants to become a PM candidate these days. The citizens know everything."

The state of Bihar will vote on Apr 10, 17, 24, 30 and May 7 and 12 to constitute the Lok Sabha.

Counting will be held on May 16.
