Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said she is opposed to BSR Congress and BJP alliance or merger in Karnataka.

"I am opposed to the BSR alliance or merger with BJP in Karnataka," tweeted Swaraj.

"I have conveyed to Shri Raj Nath Singhji (BJP president) in writing that BJP must not permit this," she posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

An Indian Express report said BJP's Karnataka unit is trying to convince Swaraj to allow re-entry of former minister and BSR Congress MLA B S Sriramulu into the party.

"Swaraj was once close with the Reddy brothers and Sriramulu but distanced herself from them after the illegal mining scam came to the fore in Bellary district," said the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Swaraj said she is also opposed to former Union Minister Venod Sharma quitting Congress and joining Kuldeep Bishnoi-led Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC).

"He is tipped to be the BJP-HJC candidate from Karnal Lok Sabha constituency," said Indian Express.

"I am strongly opposed to this. I have conveyed my views to Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi," said the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha reacting to the report.
